Christmas Devotions Week 4

Love
Take a moment to imagine what your life would be like if God had never sent His Son to earth. Think about how it would feel to exist without the promise of eternal life, or a connection to God. Consider how it would affect your relationships, your sense of self, and your vision for the future.
Because of the promise of Christmas, that will never be a reality.
The birth of Jesus was a physical expression of God’s extravagant love for humanity. We’ll never have to experience life apart from our Savior because God sent His Son to be with us.
No matter how busy or difficult this season may seem, we invite you to experience a fresh outpouring of God’s love. Take some time to reflect on what Jesus’ birth means for you. When you’re ready, pray the prayer below.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 4:9-10 – In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Isaiah 9:6 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Pray:
God,
Thank You for loving me so much that You gave Your Son for me, even before I loved You. It is through your gracious, steadfast love that I am able to understand why Christmas truly matters. Remind me to reflect on the gift of Your Son in the days leading up to Christmas. Transform me into someone who loves others just like You love me. Please show me how to walk continually in Your love, that perfect love which casts out fear.
I love you, Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
